In the male category fastest time this week went to Callum Howes with 5:22 (76.04%), six seconds ahead of former 3:50 1500m man Steve Male. However, it was Steve, running in Whitfield, who topped the age grade rankings with 80.18%. Another strong run from Torben J saw him finish second in the age grading (5:53, 76.4%). Catherine O’Connor took both the ladies fastest time and age grade score (7:07, 70.01%), with Nikki Godwin (7:18, 60.66%) and Vicky Green (7:22, 60.72%) giving chase.
Battle of the week came in the men’s V65 category. Chris Woolgar entered the fray to post 7:37 (63.33%) and Brian Davis took ten seconds of last week’s time to start with a seven in 7:52 (63.71%) leaving it honours even as Chris took it on time and Brian on age grade score.
Three weeks in and there has been some pretty decent progress. Standouts are Angela Warren taking 40s off between week 1 and 2 and a further second off in week 3 and Catherine-Anne Curtis, running the CC DT ‘mile’, also improved by a massive 49 seconds between week 2 and week 3.
