The racing season is slowing as it heads toward the holiday hiatus (thus the fallow week for your race reports), but FRAC definitely are not! You’re out there crushing it. Let’s find out where and how.
KCAA Veterans championships, Dartford – 22 November
FRAC’s finest showed up to Central Park in Dartford for the annual Kent Vets Champs. Only the most experienced runners need apply because it’s anybody’s race in these highly competitive categories.
M40 and M50 categories raced over four laps to make 8400 metres, while all other categories went for two long and two short totalling 5200 metres. The first three finishers in all categories made the podium.
Ladies captain Catherine O’Conner reports:
I came third in my age category (55-64) and on the day the Vet 55 ladies team were given a silver medal, but results might be wrong and we came in third 🤷♀️ so not sure! That was myself, Kate Evans and Belinda Hitching.
The Men’s Vet 60 team also got a Silver and Krystophe was second overall.
FRAC fielded Carrie Thomas (W45, 23:06), Catherine O’Conner (W55, 3rd in category in 22:39), Kate Evans (W55, 24:47), Belinda Hitching (W55, 26:22), Nick Steele (M40, 29:33), Simon Coffey (M45, 37:43), Paul Bartlett (M50, 32:04), Krzysztof Klidzia (M60, 2nd in category in 18:56), Torben Jessen (M60, 19:58), Andrew Noble (M60, 20:01), and David Weekes (M60, 21:04).

British Masters Championship Battersea Park 5K – 30 November
In London, Deborah Jeffrey made her own master move at the British Masters Championship Battersea Park 5k. Deb blazed into 3rd in WV55 for the bronze in 19:28. What a race, Deb!

Cani Trail Long Distance Challenge, Llanharen, Wales – 29 November
Finally, from the Welsh valleys, Sylwia Tokarska and her incredible running partner, Poppy, took on the longest of this report’s runs. I can’t put it any better than Sylwia, so here’s her report from Wales:
This year’s Cani Trail Long Distance Challenge delivered everything we expected: beautiful scenery, tough route… and yet another course cut short by flooding. Tradition is tradition, after all.
However, Poppy and I weren’t about to let a little thing like a shorter route cheat us out of our full value for money. So, in a bold display of commitment (or questionable navigation), we added our own 3ish mile bonus loop.
By the time we made it back, we’d racked up 21 miles, 1100m of ascent, and 5 hours 41 minutes of “enhanced experience.” We also earned the prestigious title of Last Team Home, which we are choosing to interpret as “most dedicated to the cause.”
Despite our scenic detour, it was a brilliant day out: sunshine, Welsh hills, mud, plus a few valuable lessons learned.
