Race Reports 24 March–30 March

Lions, tigers and bears—oh, and runners! Lots and lots of runners. And right there in the mix were some of Folkestone’s finest athletes. Here’s the scoop.

Howletts Easter Rhino 5k – 30 March

This year’s instalment of Howletts 5k was held to benefit the re-wilding of three black rhinos to their new home in Tanzania. Over 450 participants laced up for a day out in the park amongst the wildlife. And what a day it was! First place goes to young Master Guy Slingsby who continues his upward trajectory as a serious local competitor. He was followed by senior club mates Steve Deeming, Sarah Nunn, Maria Felicetti, Kate Lancefield, and Jacob Henwood.

From The Aspinall Foundation: “Set where The Aspinall Foundation was founded by the late John Aspinall, 2025’s Howletts Easter Rhino 5k will take you through 90 stunning acres of ancient parkland, where you will be cheered on (or maybe just watched) by more than 45 species of rare and endangered animals including giant anteaters, gorillas, tigers and lions.”

The Island Run 10k – 30 March

Up Sheerness way, FRAC was represented by frequent fast person Karla Larnder. Karla pulled into the finish in 48:22 for 57th, 9th lady, and 1st in her age category. And that’s not all. James Barney also hauled in a strong performance, showing up in 41:22 to grab 14th overall. Strong running, Karla and James!

Around The World

It’s not all about races. Sometimes it’s just about having a good time! So here’s Ray Johnson showing his true colours in Las Vegas, Nevada!

Elsewhere, just back from his epic trip to Oslo, Tom Aspinall shows his parkrun spirit at TØyen parkrun.
