Although everyone is extremely busy over the Christmas period, it doesn’t stop Folkestone Running and Athletics members from getting out and racing.
On Saturday 21st December Kate Evens ran the Christmas Pudding Dash in Pett, near Hastings, completing the challenging, muddy, 5 mile trail run in a time of 42:36.
The following day, at Betteshanger Park near Deal 16 Folkestone Running Club runners ran in the Kent Christmas Cracker. Simon Ramsey was the first runner back for the club, completing the 5 mile course in a time of 30:11, followed by James Barney 31:50, Vicky Scott 43:33, Rebecca Powney 35:06, Darren Philip 35:44, Carrie Thomas 36:20, Dan McCarthy 37:07, Miles Gawthorp 37:27, Luke Hicks 37:49, Jason King 38:06, Anthony Scott 40:58, Layla D’Monte 41:29, Deirdre Coombs 46:22, Amie Howard ran a new PB in 46:53, Maria Felicetti 49:33, Autumn Richardson 51:14
Also on Sunday 22nd December, Jacob Henwood ran the Wimbledon Common Christmas 10k in a time of 58:19.
On Boxing Day, 43 club runners turned up to take on the traditional Saltwood Boxing Day Trail Run. Although only a short run, this extremely popular and challenging race is always well attended, with 935 runners completing the 2.79 mile course. On Sunday 29th December, 4 club runners travelled to Staplehurst to complete the Staplehurst 10 miler. Karla Larnder ran the race in a time of 1:24:10, followed by Marie Brazier 1:40:42, Amy Owen ran a PB of 1:24:55, Jenny Quinn 1:28:25.
