Just a few days remain until the kick off to the Paris 2024 Olympics which will see many of our runners glued to their TV sets watching all the athletic action.
In the spirit of all things keeping fit and enjoying sport, Folkestone Running & Athletics Club members have been out in the July sunshine doing what they do best.
Here’s what they’ve been up to:

The Woodchurch 5 & 10 Mile
Folkestone runners were welcomed to the village of Woodchurch in Ashford on Sunday 21 July for an undulating countryside course around a cosy hamlet.
Known for its Kentish white windmill overlooking the village, this scenic spot now marks the times set down by eight of our amazing club members.
Coming in a whopping 5th place for the 10 miler was Nicholas Steele with a time of 01:03:00. He was followed soon after by James Barney at 01:12:24 and Dominic Shepherd at 01:15:09.
The ladies didn’t let the lovely views distract them as they sped through winning the team prize for the event, with Karla Lander gaining 1st in her age category – great work girls!
They were well rewarded for their efforts…

The time for the 5 mile was:
- Andrew Hadlow, 00:40:06
All the times for the 10 mile were:
- Nicholas Steele, 01:03:00
- James Barney, 01:12:24
- Dominic Shepherd, 01:15:09
- Karla Larnder, 01:25:03
- Jennifer Heathfield, 01:34:40
- Anthony Scott, 01:37:19
- Collette Windsor, 01:42:11

Welsh Masters Championship
“Gadewch i’r gemau ddechrau!” – “Let the games begin” (in Welsh!)
The town of Yate saw our very own Liz Trew compete in the 400m and 800m at the Avon County and Welsh Masters 2024 Track & Field Championships.
The day included all the favourites from javelin and triple jump, to hammer throw and of course a variety of track races!
Liz said she was very happy to come home with TWO gold medals from her events.
We’re really seeing double!
