When 15 miles is “the short race”!

On Saturday Local legends, Phil Maul and Linnaea Stockall, completed the Serpent Trail 100k race, which (although they have both run a ridiculous number of ultramarathons over the past couple of years) is the longest distance either of them has run.  On a hot and humid day they ran the 100k course, which snakes it’s way form Haslemere down to Petersfield, in a time of 13:30:45 (Linnaea) and 16:21:22 (Phil)

As well as the race, which is sponsored by Salomon, there are trail running talks which were great and a fab festival like atmosphere.

On Sunday six Folkestone RC runners took on the slightly shorter, but also gruelling, Bewl Water 15 miler.  First back for the club was Krystof Klidzia, who was also the 1st male vet 55 in 1.45.27.  Next in for the club was Jacob Henwood in a time of 1:57.06.  This is even more impressive when you realise that he turned up 20mins late having forgot his trainers (rookie mistake), and managed to start just before the 5milers. He also managed to catch Martin Murray (2:24:23),  Jason O’Callaghan (2:24:46)  and Ron Bell (2:26:47), who were running together, on a hill at 12miles! Also running was Kate Clipstone who ran the rough, undulating trail course in 3.11.08.
