Saturday saw the third Cross County fixture this year. Tina Eke produced the following report:
It was another unseasonably warm day for cross country yesterday, but this seemed to bring out the best in our runners. Emma Clayton was first to race and continued to improve her performances this season by finishing 11th in the Under 15 Girls race. Joe Bruce and Oliver Collier had a great run in a very competitive Under 17 men’s race with a brilliant 2nd place for Joe and Oliver finishing well in 19th. Grahame Eke had other consistent run finishing in 14th place in the Vet 70 5k. In the Senior Womens race Nikki Goodwin led the Folkestone runners’ home in a fine 30th place. Nikki was followed by Emily Chambers in 58th, Karla Larnder 60th, Caroline Curtis in 68th, Louisa Eede 82nd and Trudi Curd 108th. The team of 3 to score finished in 9th place and are in 10th place overall in the competition. The team of 6 finished in 8th place and are in 8th place overall. Well done everyone!
Sunday saw the Marden Half Marathon and 10k take place. The club was represented by 4 runners.
Karla Larnder completed the 10k in a time of 46:19 finishing 2nd lady overall and 1st Female Vet 45. In the Half marathon Josh Pine finished 18th in a PB of 1;27:80. John O’hara finished in 105th place in 1:56:34 and 5th male Vet 60 with Antony Scott finishing in 147th place 2:03:10 and 21st Male Vet 50. Well done everyone!
