Anh-Van and Kevin Whitby competed in Chantilly, France. Although originally entered for triathlons, due to the current droughts, these had to be converted to duathlons on the day. Anh-Van completed a super sprint (2.5k run, 21k bike ride, 4.5k run) in 1:34:47, winning her age group and coming in 2nd female overall. Kevin completed the sprint plus (5k run, 43k bike ride, 8.5k run) in 2:42:02, finishing 6th in his age group.
To make the most of the bank holiday, several runners from the Folkestone Running Club ran the tough Canterbury Half Marathon. Krzysztof Klidsia was the first back for the club in tenth place overall and first Male Vet 55, in a time of 1:22:34. He was followed by Ian Merrick, 1:27:14, Rob Hill 1:42:05, Karla Larnder, 1:50:47, Catherine O’Connor, 1:51:31, Dominic Sheperd, 2:06:20, Diane Parsons 2:06:07, Amy Owen 2:21:45, Chris Childs 2:24:03 and Maria Felicetti 2:26:29
In this weeks Parkruns, Deborah Jeffery was the third woman back in the Maidstone Parkrun in a time of 22:25. Diane Parsons ran in the Ashford Parkrun in a time of 27:12, and In the Canterbury Parkrun Andrew Tremain ran in a time of 28:30. In the Walmer and Deal Seafront Parkrun Tomas Murray ran a time of 18:07 and in the Mote Park Parkrun Karla Larnder completed the course in a time of 23:12.
Further afield, in Ireland, Joseph Carroll ran the New Ross Parkrun in a time of 22:39
In the Folkestone Parkrun, Henry Axon was the first runner back in a time of 17:50, closely followed by Prakash Gurung in a time of 17:50. Hazel Green was the second lady back in a time of 22:36, with Vicky Scott coming in as the third lady in a time of 22:38.
