100, not out!

The summer months are a quiet time for races, the temperature rises, lots of us jet of on our holidays and there are very few races to enter because of this.  But that didn’t stop Folkestone Running Clubs, Simon Burvill from completing the Centurion North Downs Way 100, a continuous 100 miles from Farnham along the North Downs Way, finishing in Ashford with a lap at the Julie Rose Stadium. Simon said “It was crazy hot weather on Saturday which really sapped energy and 3000m+ ascent didn’t help (box hill and  bluebell hill were particularly nasty!). The cut offs at checkpoints are strict and if you miss them you’re out – but managed to keep ahead of them and grind out the finish in 29 hour 46 minutes and 1 second! Amazing experience-there were some dark moments mentally as you can imagine but well worth it!”

Patrick Hughes also ran the Oulton Park 20 Mile Running GP in an amazing time of 2:13:06, coming 4th overall on a very hot and undulating course.
