This weekend saw the temperature sizzle but some hardy individuals still managed to race even in the heat. Ben Mcghee travelled to Victoria Gasteiz in Northern Spain to take part in an Ironman competition. The 2.4 mile swim took place in a beautiful lake with perfect conditions. The bike section was around the Basque countryside with roads described by Ben as “rolling” whilst the marathon section of the race was in 32C. Ben finished his first foray into the type of competition in 11:22:45 placing him 537th out of 1423 competitors and 140th in his Vet 40 age category. An excellent result and massive congratulations.
In Herne Bay on Sunday, Diane Parsons and new member Bec Powney took part in the 10k and 5K Run Whitstable and Herne Bay Summer events. Diane finished in a time of 54:55 finishing 42nd out of 113, 6th female overall and 1st in the Vet 40 female age category. Bec Powney in her first race in FRC colours finished 7th overall 2nd lady and 1st in her senior ladies age category. Well done to both of you !!!
Saturdays Parkrun results were as follows: Congratulations to Linnaea Stockall on achieving a PB a week after a gruelling trail run last week where she finished 1st lady and 2nd overall.
