Firstly, congratulations to Noah Paterson who finished in 29th place out of a field of 300 in the National Inter-counties XC on Saturday which includes teams from England, Scotland and Wales. He was the 3rd runner out of the team of 4 that picked up a bronze medal for Kent in the Under 15s boys race. A fantastic result, especially as he was suffering from Covid less than two weeks ago!
On Sunday, a team of nine made their way to Paddock Wood – a course that always produces PB racing and it didn’t disappoint. Vicky Scott achieved a massive PB by several minutes finishing in a time of 1:40:31 followed closely by Catherine O’ Connor in 1:40:38. In the men’s race Ben McGhee came home first in a time of 1:18:12 in 70th place with Krzysztof Klidzia in 81st place in 1:18:59 and James Springett in 1:32:38. Marie Brazier also achieved a PB by over 10 secs in 1:57:43 after several weeks of broken training. Diane Parsons finished in1:53:33 with Catherine Clipstone finishing in 1:54:22 and Gary Brazier in 2:04:41. There was also a fantastic performance from returning FRC member, Jane Wren who finished in a PB time of 1:47:36 finishing 3rd in the Vet 55 women’s age category.
At the Dartford Half Marathon Karla Larnder and Caroline Curtis took part on a windy and hilly course. Karla completed the course in 1:53:45 finishing 13th female while Caroline Curtis ( Folkestone 2nd claim club) was 8th female in 1:47:30.
