PBs A PLENTY

It was a busy weekend for the members of Folkestone Running Club this weekend.  The Lydd Half Marathon and 20 Miler are always a popular event for the club, especially those training for a Marathon, and this year was no exception.  Not only was there a fantastic turnout for the events, there were no less than 9 PBs run on the cold, windy, open courses.

In the Lydd Half Marathon FRC’s David Tyler – 01:17:06, was the first back for the club, finishing in third place overall, followed by Andrew Wright – 01:18:10, Ian Merrick whose PB streak continues.  His previous half marathon PB was 1:31:09.  He was aiming for his first sub 1:30, but a superman finish got him home in 1:26:59!  Jonathan Arana-Morton came next in – 01:28:54, Ron Bell – 01:40:53 (2 mins 27sec PB), Lisa Smith – 02:16:37.  Next for the club came Kate Lancefield, who has been chasing her half marathon PB for 6 years and finally beat it today by a massive 7 minutes to come home in 02:16:40.

First home for FRC in the Lydd 20 Mile was Henry Axon in a time of 02:01:01 a 9 min PB and a fantastic 4th overall.  He was followed by , Nick Bryant – 02:33:00, Josh Pine – 02:33:45, Greg Dixon – 02:34:58, Anh-van Whitby – 02:43:51, Anna Thomsen – 02:47:24, Karla Larnder – 02:47:46 (17 min PB), Kirsty Wilson – 02:52:29 (PB), Thomas Murray – 02:52:28, Martin Murray – 02:53:17, Andrew Hadlow – 02:53:40, Richard Fowles – 02:54:02, Paul Hannay – 02:54:22 (24 min PB), Simon Burvill – 02:55:24, Mark Hyham – 02:57:43, Diane Parsons – 02:59:05 (10 min PB), Catherine Clipstone – 03:02:54 (20 min PB), Anthony Scott – 03:12:57, Deborah Dunham – 03:38:16, Amy Owen – 03:38:25, Becky Newton – 03:38:49

For most people 20 miles would be more than enough of a race to run, but for some that is only the beginning.  On Saturday, Linnaea Stockall and Phil Maul ran the Humanity Direct Amersham Ultra 50km race across the muddy trails and hills of Buckinghamshire.  Not only did they run the difficult, challenging course, but they also both achieved PBs for their effort.  Linnaea Stockall was first back in 05:24:57, followed by Phil Maull in 05:40:58.

In addition to all of these races there were still many FRC runners out running Parkruns around the country, and indeed the world, this weekend.
