FRC claimed both the male and female team prizes at The Deal Half Marathon which took place on Sunday morning. There were 18 (and a half) FRC runners lined up on the start line, the blustery conditions making it hard going for the first half.
First back for the club and 3rd overall was Henry Axon in a time of 1:21:01. Last minute entrant Dan Voller was next back in 4th place in 1:22:46. Second claim Ben Mcghee racing in his Deal Tri vest, was 6th overall in 1:24:09. Rob Hill set a new PB to finish 23rd in 1:32:51 ahead of Ian Merrick in 26th who also set a new PB by over two minutes of 1:33:35. Nick Bryant came 29th in 1:34:11 followed by James Springett, making his first appearance for the club, who knocked a massive 9 minutes off his PB to finish 30th in 1:34:55.
Linnea Stockall was a brilliant 3rd Lady overall in 1:42:20 while Ron Bell set a new PB in 59th place of 1:43:20. Kirsty Wilson was next in 65th position overall and 5th lady in 1:44:47, followed by Thomas Murray 66th in 1:44:46, Anh Van Whitby 6th lady and 69th overall in 1:45:05, Phil Maull who knocked several minutes off his PB 80th in 1:46:49, Martin Murray 95th in 1:49:46, Andy Hadlow 102nd in 1:50:58, Karla Larnder 133rd in 1:55:10, Diane Parsons 134th in 1:55:09, Simon Burvill 140th in 1:56:13 and Amy Owen 272nd in 2:26:14.
Lots of people took part in the parkrun on Saturday morning. A great run from Joe Bruce saw him equal his PB and take the first finisher honours for the first time. Well done also to Ian Merrick who set a new PB and broke the 20 minute barrier for the first time.
