10ks, A Half, X Country and 175 Marathons!!

This weekend’s racing started early with Tara Baker completing another marathon on Thursday – the SVN Armistice Day Challenge in 4:58:44. This was Tara’s 175th marathon !! What a amazing number she has now completed.

Early Saturday morning several FRC runners went to Lydd to complete in the EDF Lydd 10k. First home was Ben McGee in 8th place in a time of 37:04. Karen Puttock was next in 48th place and first female Vet 45 in 45:36. Closely behind was Andrew Hadlow who was 2nd Vet 60 in 46:34 and 56th overall. Karla Lardner finished in 47:43 in the first of her two 10k’s over the weekend and 63rd. Jonathan Watts also took part finishing in 51:46 and in 93rd place.

Saturday’s Cross Country fixture took place at Danson Park in Bexley and was for Juniors, SuperVet Men and Senior Women. Our Juniors were first to race with twins Emma and Jennifer Clayton finishing a fine 17th and 28th place respectively in the Under 15 girls event. Noah Paterson continued his dominance of the Under 15 Boys event, comfortably winning with a margin of 5 seconds and securing selection for the Kent squad. An absolutely brilliant set of results for Noah so far this season. Grahame Eke finished the Vet 70 race in 9th place and stands in 7th place out of 13 Vet 70s for the season. The Senior Women made a strong showing, scoring in both the teams of 3 and 6 competitions. Ivana Collier was the first Folkestone lady to finish in a fine 43rd place out of the field of 139. Ivana was ably supported by her fellow team mates Emily Chambers who finished in 47th place, Anna Thomsen 69th, Kirsty Wilson79th, Gail Turbutt 96th, Marie Brazier 110th and Kate Clipstone 117th. The team of 3 finished in 10th place out of 17 teams and are in 9th place out of 18 teams overall. The team of 6 finished in 8th place out of 10 teams and are in 9th place out of 12 teams overall.

On Sunday FRC runners took part in the Marden 10k and Half Marathon. In the 10k race Karla Lardner was racing again and finished in a time of 47:24 and was first Vet 45. A great result considering she had also raced the day before in Lydd. In the Half Marathon race first back and in a fantastic new PB by 7 minutes was Ron Bell in 1:44:23 in 58th place . Next was Antony Scott in 1:50:34 a time 6 minutes faster than his previous time and in 75th place. Collette Windsor was in 90th place and 4th Vet female 35 in a time of 1:55:22 Paul Hannay finished in 1:56:49in 96th place.
