The Vitality Big Half took place this weekend and saw a flurry of excellent results for our runners. Leading the field for Folkestone was Henry Axon in a time of 1:19:12 in 236th place overall, a PB by 4 secs. He was followed by Patrick Hughes in 1:27:07 and Nick Bryant in a PB time of 1:31:27. Representing the ladies were Kate Lancefield and Lisa Smith who both crossed the finish line in 2:28:35, the first time Kate has managed to go under 2:30 with another PB result. Well done everyone.
In other sporting activities Jenny Quinn and Phil Heathfield completed the Pilgrim Hospice 100 mile Cycle Challenge in just over 8 hours in the saddle, raising over £230 so far for this worthy cause. The club also had 2 representatives in the Hythe Bay Tri. New club member Sandra Shanks finished in a time of 1:05:47 and 8th female out of 74, while Maria Chapman was 11th female in 1:08:41.
This week’s Parkrun was the seventh anniversary of the Folkestone event and saw some fabulous performances from FRC runners. First back with a PB was Rob Collier in a time of 18:33 with Louisa Eede, our first female in a time of 23.20. There were also PB’s for Helen Webb, Diane Parsons and junior runner Abbi Smith. Among the Park run tourists Callum Howes equalled his best result with a time of 18:32 at the Southwick Parkrun.
