Cross Country
Saturday was the final cross country fixture of the season in the Kent League at Norman Park in Bromley.
Women
The ladies were out first for 5K on the mostly flat, multi-lap fast course, which included a challenging woodland section on one lap before returning to the flat. Caroline Curtis was on her second race of the day, having run the Dartford Heath Parkrun in the morning, and was first back for the club, followed closely by Zoe Neale.

The women’s team of three finished the season mid table in 11th out 21 places in the Kent Cross Country League, one place above South Kent Harriers. In the six to score league they finished 9th of 15 teams.
Individual achievement: Julie Gibbs finished top V60 women in the league and 4th in the V55-65 category. Gail Turbott was 20th Vet 45, Catherine O’Connor 30th Vet 45 and 9th Vet 50 ( 3 out of 4 races) and Ivana Collier was 44th Vet 35 (2 races)
Men
The men’s race was 10K with three trips to the woods. Ian McGilloway and Richard Fowles also had their second race of the day having run Folkestone Parkrun a few hours earlier. There were welcome returns to cross country for Phil Hoyland and David Weekes.

The men’s team of four also finished the season mid table in 12th out 26 place in the Kent Cross Country League, and also one place above South Kent Harriers.
Individual achievement: Liam Cumber represented the club in every fixture and did very well to finish 49th out of 438 runners in the league in his first full season. Malcolm Gibbs finished 3rd Vet 65 and Grahame Eke 5th Vet 65.


Parkrun Cup
More first round action this week as current champion Lisa Smith scored 99.4, but it wasn’t quite enough as Debbie Dunham went through with a score of 101.4.
Lynsey Tighy also fought hard as she amassed a score of 96.2, but Thomas Leaver was on top form and moves into round two with a score of 101.7.
The closest result today was between Louise Fowler and Richard Dyer with both beating their targets though Louise edged it to win with 101.8 against Richards 101.6.
