Even with the enormous amount of rain we have had recently, our club members have been braving the elements.
Neil Trett ran the Sherfield in Hampshire 10k. His time was 53:27. He came in 8th place for vet males. He described the race as, ‘Mud, streams, puddles, running through water up to the knee (on many occasions around the route). Did I mention the mud? Move sideways as much as forwards at times! Strangely a lot of fun.’
Talking more of mud, Vicky Scott and Jenny Quinn took part in the Kings Hill 10 and 5k. Jenny managed to come 3rd lady overall in a time of 28:20 in the 5K. Vicky Scott covered the 10k in a time of 56:12. She said, ‘(I) didn’t realise it was cross country!! π’.
On Saturday, one of our most active of club runners, Tony Scott entered the Christmas Pudding Dash 5 miler at Pett. Tony said that it was, ‘a very muddy trail race through the undulating woods and farmlands around Pett. The mud took it out of my hamstrings, the hills took it out of my calves, the cold took it out of my lungs, and the rain took whatever was leftβ¦ and I loved it! I came 44th out of 328, in a time of 39:19’.
More on the challenging themes, married couple Lisa and Andy Smith, took part in the Winlatter Parkrun, ‘UK highest elevation (674ft) and apparently the 3rd UKs roughest!’.
Thinking about our regular races we attend, on form Dave Tyler, smashed the Walmer and Deal Parkrun, coming in first place in 00:17:19. On home soil, Emma Creasey was first lady back in Folkestone Parkrun in a time of 00:20:12.
