A weekend of 20 milers

It was all about the 20 milers this week in the build up to marathon season. Jamie Whitham kicked things off on Saturday by taking part in the Windsor and Eton 20 Miler at Eton Dorney Lake. Jamie came 26th overall in a time of 2:29:24.

On Sunday it was the Ricki Savage Thanet 20 mile which saw several FRC runners in action. It was another top 10 finish for Dave Tyler and Dan Voller as they finished just a second apart in 5th and 6th position. Dave finished in 2:11:01 while Dan finished in 2:11:02 and knocked over 7 minutes off his PB in the process. Caroline Curtis was next to finish as 9th Lady overall and first V45 in a time of 2:51:31. Aldous Hosking was next back in 2:59:11 closely followed by Tony Scott in 3:00:02.

Saturday is as always parkrun day and as usual there was a good turnout on the Leas despite the wind. Joe Bruce takes the honours for fastest FRC finisher this week crossing the line in 20:07. Following behind was Debbie Jeffery (22:13), Chris Woolgar (23:31), Paul Bartlett and Stuart Erskine (both 24:06), Tony Scott (24:15), Richard Fowles (24:25), Vicky Scott (24:30), Phil Maul (24:56), Andy Richardson (25:27), Clive Allon (25:33), John O’Hara (25:35), Jenny Quinn (25:59), Aldous Hosking (26:05), Kirsty Wilson (26:32), Luke Fowles (26:54), Catriona Watts (27:44), Hazel Green (27:49), Linda Robson (28:32), Alan Randall (30:11), Gary Brazier (31:37), Paul James (33:32), Diane Parsons (34:38), Catherine-Anne Curtis (35:23), Kate Lancefield (38:41), Lisa Smith (38:42) and Alfie Lancefield (42:58).

Down the road in Ashford, Zoe Neale and Dave Weekes crossed the line in 23:52 and 25:19 respectively. Further afield, Liam Cumber took part in the Mile End parkrun and set a new PB time of 20:27. At the Northala Fields parkrun, Darren Crew and Jody Stoakes rubbed shoulders with parkrun royalty as they met the founder of parkrun Paul Sinton-Hewitt. Darren ran the course in 19:51 finishing 10th while Jody finished in 26:33.
