The August summer is here and with it, plenty opportunities to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.
Here’s what we got up to this week:
Mount Ephraim 10k

If there are some quiet country lanes in the middle of an idyllic Kentish area – you can bet our runners have run around them!
That’s exactly what they did on Sunday’s 10km around the stunning estate at Mount Ephraim Gardens in Faversham.
Reportedly a hilly beautiful course on a very hot day, FRAC came out in full force and brought some extraordinary efforts.
Simon Ramsay; 38:38 (6th place!)
Colin Burfoot, 47:59
Andrew Hadlow, 51:01
Simon Coffey, 51:37
Karen Burfoot, 51:49
Sarah Nunn, 53:26
Paul Hannay, 53:36
Brilliant work all, looks like you really went for it!
Kent International Jamboree

Guy Slingsby spent the past week at the Kent International Jamboree, with his scout group at Detling.
In amongst squeezing in 5 early morning runs he took part in a mud, paint, obstacle run where he came in 1st place running with 1st Lyminge scouts.
He also came 2nd place while representing 1st Lyminge in the car soap box race (that’s four individuals running whilst carrying a handmade cardboard car!).
His reward? Plenty of muddy clothes for his mum to wash!
Great work Guy – and of course Julie!

Derek Crookes U13 Inter-Counties

Under 13’s FRAC juniors Poppy Tockall and Jacob Gillett were selected to represent Kent in the Derek Crookes Memorial Inter-county match on Sunday 10 August.
Both achieved PB’s with Poppy jumping 4.40m in long jump and Jacob throwing 20.98 in the discus.
The boys Kent team came 2nd to Essex by only 4 points!
A brilliant debut by both athletes, well done!
parkruns for the week:

It was of course parkrun Saturday and many of our runners travelled about taking on this community 5km run.
Brian Austin marked his 50th parkrun by visiting the one where it all started, Bushy Park.
What a way to celebrate! Great work Brian and to everyone who also ran.
