On Friday, seven runners competed in race 3 of the Rye Summer 5k and 10k series. In the 10k race, Carrie Thomas was the first club runner back in a 10k PB time of 45:27, knocking 1 minute off of her previous 10k time and coming first in her age category. Catherine O’Connor finished in a time of 45:28 with Brian Austin finished in 58:33.
In the 5k race, Paul Bartlett was the first back for the club in a time of 18:45, followed by James Barney 21:38. Jane Wren was the first in her age category to finish in a time of 25:04 and Sonia Maxwell finished in a time of 26:15.
Although races are important, it’s not all about that. Last week, while on holiday in the USA, Louisa Eade flew the flag for Folkestone Running and Athletics Club by running across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge (in club colours of course).
Last week, Rosie Smisson and Hilary Collins were the latest club runners to completed the Virtual Folkestone 10 in aid of charity. Rosie and Hilary also took part in the Fordy non tech 5k on Monday 28th July  The event started at the ruins of a church in Eastwell and was part trail and part country lanes with lots of climbing.  Rosie’s predicted time was 33 15 and she completed it in 29.56 giving her 6th place. (The winner being the runner closest to their predicted time. Hilary’s predicted time was 29.30  and she finished in 29.57 giving her 2nd place.Â
