Maidstone Turkey Run:
Sunday saw husband and wife team Jenny and Phil Heathfield and their four legged friends take part in the Maidstone Turkey run. Jenny reports; “It was about 7.5 mile canicross race. Myself and Banjo finished in 1:18:38 by my watch ( Banjo struggled so I didn’t realise we could get a print out of actual time! ) Phil however did- he ran it with Marley in 55:41 coming in 9th place overall and 6th Male”. Fantastic efforts by both humans and dogs !!!!

Hurtwood 50K:
Nothing fazes FRAC trail runner Phil Maul not storm Durragh nor annoying calf niggle. Here is his account of today’s race. “The Hurtwood 50 starts from the lovely town of Dorking, and follows the Greensand Way into the forested Surrey Hills, a famous Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This race route is a ‘lollipop’ – essentially an out and back, with a 5 mile loop off the Greensand Way before starting the return journey. The race takes you up and over Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Pitch Hill on a well marked, easy to follow trail through the woodlands, ridgelines and valleys of this area that is collectively known as The Hurtwood. The loop at the western end of these hills takes you off the Greensand Way for a short time before rejoining to make your way back over the 3 hills and to the Finish.
It was a super windy, muddy, showery day but everyone was so supportive. I really enjoyed the craziness of loosing a shoe in the deep mud (I recovered it, thankfully) and was happy with my time of 6:59:56. Time to rest up for Christmas”.
