Yesterday saw the start of the Spring marathon season with FRC runners taking part in Paris and Brighton. In France Harry Wall completed the Paris marathon in a PB time by 32 minutes in 3:25:32. A superb result.
Closer to home the Brighton Marathon took place on a new course. The first half was somewhat more undulating than previously and there was quite a nasty wind for the runners to contend with. First FRC runner home was Jacob Henwood in 3:35:12 a brilliant 10 min PB. Rebecca Powney running in her first marathon finished next in 3:56:18 with Karla Lardner close behind in 3:57:42. Catherine Clipstone finished in 4:13:08 Andrew John Smith 4:30:15 Jason King 4:31:35 Paul Hannay 5:25:43. Congratulations to all.
In London the London Landmarks Half Marathon took place. There were a stunning performance for Ivana Collier achieving 5th female in her age category, Vet female 45-49 and 52nd female overall out of 10007 women in a massive 4 min PB of 1:32:58. First home in for the men was James Springett in PB time of 1:31:58. Jason Herridge came home in 1:47:08 ( his first sub 2 hour HM) followed by Marie Brazier 1:56:19, Neil Adams in 1:57:43 and Deborah Parmenter in a PB of 2:01:41 A great set of results for the club with several of these runners competing in marathons in the coming weeks.
