A fairly quiet week for racing with lots of people moving into the final stages of marathon training. There were a few FRCers in action in some pretty tough races.
First up on Saturday was Emily Chambers taking part in the sprint triathlon at Eton Dorney. Emily put in a fantastic performance and after a 750m swim, 19.2k bike and 5k run at the famous venue crossed the line as 1st lady and in 10th place overall in a time of 1:10:00.
Neil Trett took part in the Maverick Peak District 28k trail race. He described the course as beautiful but challenging (there are a few hills up that way) and finished in 16th place overall in a time of 2:51:44.
Closer to home was the Four Castles Challenge race taking in the four castles of Sandown, Deal, Walmer and Dover. Tony Scott took part, conquering the tough, half marathon distance course in 2:06:44
Lots of parkrun action on Saturday. Emily Lancefield set a new PB and Dierdre Coombs topped her V65 age category while Nikki Goodwin clocked up her 50th run in Folkestone. It was an FRC 123 in Deal as Dan Voller ran his 100th parkrun in a course PB of 16:58 followed by Dave Tyler and Steve Male.
Following the parkrun, FRC hosted a Mind Run and Talk on the Leas, a relaxed one-mile run giving the chance to have a chat and place a focus on running for mental health. It was great to see a large number of members and non-members taking part.
The full parkrun results were:
Caroline Curtis – 22:50
Brent Parker – 30:13
Walmer and Deal Seafront:
Daniel Voller – 16:58
David Tyler – 17:34
Stephen Male – 17:36
