Parkrun A Cup

The parkrun cup is a handicap competition where runners compete against each other by scoring a percentage of their season’s best time. There were some tremendous runs in the competition this weekend with all five runners scoring 100+ in their 3rd round ties.

Stephen Male has given himself a chance of progressing to the quarter final by posting a score of 100.9 (only seconds off his course PB) for Karen Puttock to chase next weekend.

David Tyler was first across the line and scored an impressive 103.0 as he took 31 seconds off his time. In reply Clive Allon scored 102.3 as he took 32 seconds off. Such small margins and a brave effort from Clive, but unfortunately the original champion is out as David goes through.

In a tie every bit as exciting as the Hollywood classic, Mr & Mrs Smith, husband and wife Andy and Lisa were paired against each other. Lisa Smith ran 30 minutes dead as she knocked 37 seconds off her time to score a great 102.1. In reply husband Andrew Smith, on a hiding to nothing, took 27 seconds off hist target time and just missed out by scoring 102.0 (probably for the best). Lisa Smith will have to line up against the in form Vicky Green in the next round.

Parkrun B Cup

Last season’s runner up Kirsty Wilson played her match against Richard Dyer. Richard scorched around the course scoring 98.6 but it wasn’t enough as Kirsty pulled out 99.5 just edging the match. Kirsty now faces Neil Trett or Helen Francis in the quarters.

Emma Creasey withdrew through injury, so Trudi Curd has a bye to meet Marie Brazier in the final eight. Best wishes to Emma in recovery.
