A Busy Weekend

No marathons this week but there was still quite a lot going on. First up on Saturday was Morgan West who travelled all the way to Wales for the next round of the British Triathlon Junior Super Series in Llanelli. Consisting of a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run, Morgan finished in a fantastic 10th position, improving on his performance in the same event last year.

Up in the Peak District, Ian McGilloway entered the Cressbrook Crawl fell race, a 6.5 mile route with 350m of climbing. Ian finished in 7th position in a time of 47:55.

Closer to home was the Stelling Minnis 10k, including the infamous hill at 7km. Rob Hill and Jenny Quinn took part with Rob finishing in 17th position in a time of 43:52 while Jenny knocked 3 minutes off her course PB to finish in 88th position in 52:53.

It was a windy day down on the south coast making it hard going for the Hastings 5. Darren Crew and Jody Stoakes took part with Darren finishing in 73rd position in 32:53 and Jody in 237th position in a time of 40:07.

Fresh from his marathon last weekend, Tony Scott was taking it easy this week by taking part in the Run Gatwick Half Marathon, finishing in 1:50:48.

The warmer weather this weekend will have come as some relief to Chris Woolgar as he took part in the Naturist Foundation’s 5k Naked Run. Chris completed the off road trail route  in 23:26 finishing in 11th place “wearing just trainers and a smile”.

Saturday is of course parkrun day and there was a big turn out on the Leas in Folkestone. James Whitham was first back for the club in 6th position overall and a time of 18:44. He was followed by Dave Gillett (18:52), Andy Fletcher (19:12), Stuart Erskine (19:46), Luke Fowles (20:06 – PB), Debbie Jeffery (21:22), Rob Hill (21:32), Chris Woolgar (21:52), Kirsty Wilson (22:12), Caroline Curtis (22:46), Richard Fowles (23:06), Catherine O’Connor (23:35), Aldous Hosking (23:42), Tony Scott (23:44), Vicky Scott (24:18), Levi Atwell (24:56), Catriona Watts (25:01), John O’Hara (25:09), Carolyn Lewis (25:17), Philip Maull (25:44), Liam Cumber (25:52), Diane Parsons (26:03 – PB), Richard Dyer (26:14), Joanna Peers (27:53), Trudi Curd (28:19), Debra Moran (29:23), Louise Fowler (31:19), Catherine-Anne Curtis (35:14) and Linda Robson (39:06)

It was a close finish at the Walmer and Deal parkrun with Dave Tyler and Dan Voller  recording identical times of 17:26 and finishing in 1st and 2nd respectively. This was also a PB for Dave and an equal PB for Dan.

Over in Ashford, Clive and Pam Allon took part with Clive finishing in 23:16 and Pam in a PB time of 26:54.
