On Sunday many runners headed along the South coast to take part in the Brighton Marathon. With a strong headwind making it tough going for the runners, the first runner back for Folkestone Running and Athletic Club was Henry Axon in a time of 2:55:08. Next back for the club was Jase O’Callaghan in 3:57:58 with Amy Axon next back in a time of 4:22:35. David Tetlow finished the course with a PB of 17 minutes in a time of 4:28:50 with Claire Tetlow running a 2 minute of PB in 4:34:23
Also on Sunday, Nicole Dodd ran the Paris marathon. Nicole thoroughly enjoyed the race from start to finish! Such a beautiful city to run around with so many iconic sights. According to Nicole “The new ban on giving out plastic bottles and cups of water on route was an interesting but actually went really smoothly with lots of refill stations for reusable cups.” Nicole finished in 3:39:08 a new PB, knocking 22mins off her last marathon time.

Over the weekend too, Sylwia Tokarska completed the 3-day RAID/Cani trail challenge in South Wales . 3 days traverse-style running with the dogs, moving between two bivi camps in the Welsh hills. Starting of Friday with a 30km/930m section in 4h53. On Saturday Sylvia and her dog Poppy covered the 45km/1832m section in 9h06 and they completed the challenge on Sunday with a 12km/324m run which they completed in 1h59. Over 3000m of climbing, technical terrain, and some of the most stunning views out there. Sylwia stated “Day 2 was extra special – Poppy the Labrador clocked her longest ever run, stayed super focused, and handled every stile like a pro. The Welsh spring weather delivered freezing nights, around five hailstorms, and wind gusts over 40mph… which ripped my tent in the middle of the night.” Although it is not official yet, it is thought that only 8 out of 21competitors completed the full distance which says it all really. Despite the challenge, there was such a great sense of camaraderie between everyone – lots of support out on the course and some lovely new friendships made along the way.

Also on Sunday Nathan Doe ran the London Landmarks half marathon in 1:36:32.
