On Sunday, over 40 members of the club took part in the Deal Castle 5 mile race with great success. Although the weather was somewhat inclement before the race, the clouds parted and by the end there were blue skies and the runners finished in glorious autumn sunshine. Folkestone Running and Athletic Club were extremely successful with Guy Slingsby finishing in 2nd place in a time of 28:45, followed by Nick Steele in 3rd place in a time of 29:18. Vicky Scott was the 3rd female back in a time of 32:59 and Folkestone also took home the Men’s team prize (Guy Slingsby, Nick Steele, Torben Jessen, James Barney) and the Women’s team prize (Vicky Scott, Kirsty Wilson, Louisa Eede). Kirsty Wilson won the Senior Female category in a time of 33:27 and Louisa Eede won the Female Vet50 category in a new PB time of 35:27, with Torben Jessen winning the Male Vet60 category in 31:44.

Also on Sunday, Prakash Gurung travelled across the pond to take part in the New York Marathon and completed the course in a fantastic time of 2:47:36.
