Sunday saw a number of half marathons take place that FRAC members took part in. Up in North Kent our coach Catherine O’Connor and partner Paul Bartlett took part in the Dartford Half marathon. This race was quite challenging especially this morning with it starting in freezing fog. There was also a big hill at 10 miles and an undulating course that visits the outlying villages around Dartford. However both made light work of it and achieved pb’s. Paul finished in 1:23:22 34th out of 1177 and 4th in the Vet 50 male age category. Catherine finished in 1:345:56 148th overall and 1st in the Vet 55 female category. Fantastic results from both – well done !!!! There was also a pb in this race for Luke Hicks who achieved a time of 1:46:33 whilst Layla D’monte also finished in 1:53:30.
Further south along the coast the Brighton half marathon was also taking place. Karla Lardner was representing the club and used this as part of her London marathon training. Her time was 1:52 :05 coming in 33rd place in the Vet 50 female category.
Across the border in Wales Helen Webb completed the City of Newport Half marathon in a time of 1:40:39 -a whooping 8 minute pb and 9th in the Vet 40 female age category. A brilliant result!!
In Bedgebury Phil and Jenny Heathfield took part in the 5K Canicross event and competed with their dogs Banjo and Marley. Phil and Marley finished in 23:34 and Jenny and Banjo came home in 31:48. Great effort by all!
