To start off a busy weekend, 5 Folkestone Running and Athletic club members travelled to London to take part in the Last Friday of the Month 5k in Hyde Park. It was really windy across the park but Ron Bell still managed a well-deserved PB of 21:59. He was first home for the FRAC team, followed by Caroline Curtis with 24:19, Alan Randall 24:28, Jane Wren 24:53 and Sonia Markwell 27:17.

On Saturday, after some heavy overnight rain, the course for the TEC Lulworth Cove Half marathon was super muddy. Thankfully the rain at the start stopped after a mile, winds were very light and the runners could all enjoy the wonderful scenery. The tricky trail course meanders along the Jurassic coast cliffs taking in the gorgeous sights of Lulworth Cove and Durdle door. Linnaea Stockall was back first for the club in a time of 2:32.23, Sylwia Tokaska and Poppy the dog were second in 2:40:56, Michal Vavrinec was third in 2:56.12 and Phil Maull came in a time of 3:12.17.

On Sunday, 2 FRAC runners travelled to Brighton to take part in the Brighton half marathon. Although the weather threatened to rain, the bad weather thankfully held off. David Tyler completed the course in a PB time of 1:13:11, with Karla Larnder coming in in a time of 1.43.45.
In Ashford, FRAC runners had a very successful day on Sunday at the Ashford and District 10km race. Nikki Goodwin was the third lady back in 41:58, with Torben Jessen coming in as the 1st VM 60 in 39:21, and Catherine O’Conner finishing as the 1st VF 50 in a time of 44:39. Also running were: Anthony Scott 50:19, Philip Bridges 51:12, Diane Parsons 51:11, Jenny Quin 54:12, Jonathan Drinkwater 57:45, Autumn Richardson 1:03:09, Catherine Curtis 1:19:00.

Also on Sunday, Harry Wall ran the popular London Winter Run around the streets of central London in a PB time of 38:27. Jason Crockford also completed the race in a time of 1:01:00
And if 5kms, 10kms and half marathons weren’t enough, Ian Merrick ran the challenging North Downs Ridge 50km race on Sunday. After a strong first 20km, Ian unfortunately twisted his ankle, however this didn’t stop him and he fought on to complete the course in a time of 5 hours, 59 minutes and 17 seconds.
