On Sunday, a group of Folkestone Running Club members took the unique opportunity to race on the old Folkestone race course as part of the first ever Otterpool Park Gallop. The weather was sunny with a light breeze, and the going was good to firm. In the 5k race, first back for the club, in a time of 27:06 was Graham Orton, followed by Julia Henwood 32:43, Roisin Bunt 36:29 and Denise King 38:54.

In the 10k race, Torben Jessen was the first Folkestone runner back in 4th place overall, in a time of 45:31. Rebecca Powney was the first female back over the tough trail course, in a time of 51:43. Also running were Thomas Aspinall 50:38, Philip Bridges 57:24, Diane Parsons 58:52, Neil Sutcliffe-Adams 59:30, Anthony Scott 59:52 and Jason Crockford 1:06:57.

What’s better than a race on a sunny, Sunday morning? A race, a day out by the sea and a game of Pitch and Put Golf, of course. Ten Folkestone runners travelled down to complete the Hastings 5 Mile race and spend a day out enjoying the summer weather on Sunday. Darren Crew was first back for the club in 32:42 followed by Jody Stoakes 39:40, Ron Bell 39:40, Caroline Curtis 39:59, Alan Randall 41:06, Jane Wren 41:23, Marie Brazier 42:02, Richard Fowles 41:57, Deborah Dunham 45:55 and Sonia Markwell 45:57
