Hills and more hills!

If you like a hill or two in your races then this was the weekend for you. FRC had runners in both the Rye 10 mile and the Tough Runner Kent Trail Half Marathon/10k events, both offering up some challenging terrain.

Greg Dixon was our sole representative in the Rye 10 mile race, taking in the hills and lanes around Peasmarsh and Rye. Greg finished in a fantastic “quicker than expected” (his words!) time of 1:16:21 and in 46th position overall.

Over at the Kent Trail races, competitors not only had to contend with some brutal hills, but also a large amount of mud and all the other obstacles that trail running brings. In the half marathon distance, four runners took part. Stuart Sprinks was the first to finish in a time of 1:53:54 and in 25th position overall. Neil Trett and Daren Wild weren’t far behind in 1:55:24 (29th) and 1:56:56 (32nd) respectively. Patricia Parris finished in a time of 2:24:43.

In the 10k event, Caroline Curtis finished in a time of 1:02:04 finishing in 12th overall.
